Skilled Migrant points self-check
To apply for the Skilled Migrant Category resident visa, Immigration New Zealand requires at least 6 points from your skills and your work in New Zealand. You must also have a skilled job, or a job offer, with an accredited employer. You can claim points from ONE of these: your highest recognised qualification, OR your registration in a New Zealand profession or trade, OR your skilled job's income compared to the 2025 median wage. On top of that, you can add up to 3 points for skilled work experience in New Zealand. This tool adds up the points for what you enter, and compares the total to the published 6-point threshold. It does not assess your eligibility.
